Second Sunday Sea Day

January 18, 2026, Sunday

If you missed the first post on Sunday sea days on Jan. 11, you might find it an interesting read.

Joe and Sue were off the ship visiting the Galapagos. David and I contemplated on whether to show up for “Sunday service” on board. Liturgy is not what we are used to. Our background is Baptist- Evangelical- Christian whom pray freely- meaning whatever comes from the heart, mind, and soul led by the indwelling Holy Spirt. My prayers aren’t polished or complete; but simply worshipping, talking and listening to God.

David woke up early that morning, (rarity), because God gave him something to say. He wrote it out and printed off some copies for our service.

David prayed and shared some scriptures from the book of John.

  • Why did Jesus come (John 10:10)
  • Jesus sent the Holy Spirit for us (John 6:63, 14:16-17)
  • God’s Word is trustworthy (2 Peter 1:21, Hebrews 4:12)
  • Why did John write the book of John? (John 20:21)
    • The life we have in Christ (1Timothy 6:18-19)

Once again several of us shared what God is doing in our lives, encouraging and praying for another. The whole thing only lasted 30 minutes and I think we were all encouraged.

Maybe some of the cruisers that are on the extended voyage would like to do a Bible study? We will be here for 6 months after all. I understand the apprehension people have with the term, “Bible study”. I think getting together to read and discuss the Bible sounds less intimidating. We will see!
