The purpose of this blog is to connect with my family and friends back home. This way you can check in periodically and see where we’ve been and what adventures we’ve gotten ourselves into. I’ll be documenting the journey ( so I can remember it as well) sharing our experiences, pictures, and people we meet along the way.
That spirit of adventure ( my husband, David) is taking me on a six-month voyage around the world! My idea of a vacation might be a beachfront pet friendly condo, a riverside cabin or a dude ranch to reconnect with my equestrian side. But I have a feeling I will experience many beaches, rivers, and maybe even some rural wildlife. Although we’ve been to a lot of places since we retired, David still had some bucket list places he would like to see. This cruise covers most of those with the exception of Japan, Antarctica, and whatever else He’s not telling me.
We will visit six continents and 45 countries. Most places are near the ports with a few that we will spend several days off the ship to see. Starting in Miami, we travel south to Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and then west to French Polynesia. From New Zealand, we travel on to Australia, Papua New Guinea, Palau, Philippines, and China, Vietnam, Angkor Wat, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and the Taj Mahal, Delhi. After Seychelles we are leaving the boat to go on a 14 day trip to Egypt and Jordan. This skips some of the parts of Africa we have already seen and we rejoin the ship in Cape Town, South Africa. From Cape Town the boat will cruise North to Namibia, stopping at some islands along the way to Spain. The last leg of the world voyage visits the Canary Islands, Morocco, Gibraltar, France and Italy. We booked 2 more legs to see the Adriatic Coast. From Barcelona, Spain we venture through several coastal towns of Spain and France ending in Monaco. The last leg visits Italy, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, and Venice. From Venice we fly back home to the states.
One of the appeals of a world cruise for us was the minimum flights, the constant of having the same room, never having to completely pack up, and the consistency of available clean food. I am particularly looking forward to having lots of food options available that I don’t have to prepare, and some free time on a lounger!
I will miss my family, friends, church, and my cat like crazy; I love you all and covet your prayers for our health and safety.
